CHOC Films
This film represents a groundbreaking collaboration between AP Films, Frame 48, the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University, and CHOC Children’s. The project grew out an inaugural Chapman class developed by Amusement Park to stimulate creative community involvement with Dodge College students and to tell one of the many incredible true stories that are happening at CHOC every year. “Patched” is a short film celebrating the work of CHOC Children’s as told through the story of Ashley McNamara Blalock, who was born 27 weeks premature as a triplet and moved to CHOC Children’s in 1982. In 2007, she returned to CHOC to join the staff as a Child Life Specialist, supporting children as they receive treatment for life-threatening illnesses. Eight years later, she gave birth to her own premature daughter in 2015 who also received life-saving care at CHOC.
